Now, if you're like me and had no father, or an AWOL father, and you tried really hard to find approval from him but never got it? Your looking to the wrong "Father" for it!
The one we should always look to first for approval is God! God is a "Father to the fatherless." (Psalm 68:5a).
We get our perceptions about "Dad's" in our little brains as small children. Think about it. We trust them implicitly when we're little. We never worry about them getting us killed when riding around in a car with them, which is the very definition of "child like trust." We need to have that same kind of "child like trust" in God! No matter how good our earthly father's are, they can't fill that void! They'll never be able to because only God can fill the "God shaped hole" in our souls! "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book." (Psalm 56:8).
God has every hair on our heads COUNTED. Imagine that? Every single hair! He knows when just 1 falls out! Now THAT'S the very definition of a "very loving and involved Father" isn't it? (See Luke 12:7).
As you celebrate this weekend with your earthly Dad's, don't forget to thank our Heavenly Father for your life, the things you have, your job, and your earthly dad! Just be grateful, that's easy enough, right? God is always with you, and will never "leave you, nor forsake you!" He loves you so much, He gave His only son to DIE on a Roman cross for your sins and mine. (John 3:16).
"Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His Name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12).
Child? You ARE Loved and God is a Good, Good Father!
Happy Father's Day!
